Happiness is a warm gun.

Picked up a target pistol last week – a new Ruger MkIII Hunter in stainless. Gorgeous piece – I’ll post pics later. I think it shoots well – still haven’t zero’ed the sights, but I did run a few hundred rounds through it before taking it apart and cleaning it.

Is it just me, or is it strange that my expensive precision toy needs a mallet(1) to take apart and put back together?

On the other hand, it probably says something about me that my gun is the cleanest thing in my house!

  1. Although RUGER® MARK III pistols are designed to be disassembled and reassembled without the use of tools, some “tools” may be useful in the process, particularly when the pistols are new. Tools that may be useful include: (1) a soft rubber/plastic mallet; (2) a paper clip; and (3) a wooden dowel (1/8” - 1/4” diameter).
