Credibility.

This is another one of those Henry cards where the image doesn’t immediately evoke the card. A behatted, rather suss, gentleman is holding several birds.

Anyway, weird image choice aside, this is a curious card for me at this point in my job hunt. I read that while women will only apply for a job if they have at least 90 percent of the listed qualifications, men will apply for a job if they have at least 60 percent. I fall firmly in the category of women here. But why? It isn’t that I don’t think I could DO jobs where I don’t have all the “requirements”. It is more of a credibility issue: me applying is me saying I can do all or almost all you are asking for. What would my career have looked like if, instead, I tried for jobs I thought I could do without regards to qualifications? Probably wouldn’t have been selected for most, but then maybe that is how the game is supposed to be played and I’ve been doing it wrong all these years.
